TOUR PLAN

DAY 1: ARRIVE AT KILIMANJARO INTERNATIONAL AIRPORT

Transfer to Manyara Ranch Conservancy for dinner and overnight

Accommodation: Manyara Ranch Tented Camp

Meal plan: D

Welcome to Tanzania!

Arrive at Kilimanjaro International Airport. After clearing customs and Immigration formalities you will be met by your driver guide and immediately set off for the unique landscapes of a Conservancy located in northern Tanzania.

Manyara Ranch Conservancy is 35,000 acres of exclusive wilderness situated within the wildlife corridor between Tarangire and Manyara National Parks in Tanzania. The Conservancy provides guided game walks and night game drives in 4×4 open safari vehicles. Other activities include Game viewing from hides overlooking waterholes, bush breakfasts, bush lunches and sundowners, and cultural visits to partner villages and the local school. The ranch is home to a significant wildlife population, including elephant, giraffe, wildebeest, zebra, oryx, lion, cheetah, leopard, hyena, and many more.

DAY 2: SAFARI IN TARANGIRE NATIONAL PARK

Accommodation: Manyara Ranch Tented Camp

Meals plan: B, L, D

This morning we recommend an early breakfast so as to make the most of your day. You will spend the better part of the day exploring the baobab studded plains of Tarangire National Park † located about 20Kms from your Camp.

Tarangire National Park extends over some 2,600 sq km (1,615 square miles) in the Rift Valley. Arid and studded with giant termite mounds, it is here that you can witness massive herds of elephant with some reaching as many as 500. During the dry season the park becomes a haven for many migratory species and this is the best time to see animals as they cluster around various water sources. When the rains arrive the animals become more widely distributed once more and the region’s swamps are alive with bird life. The many herds of elephant, buffalo, wildebeest, impala, gazelle and eland feast on the green shoots, eventually depleting them and being forced to return to the river systems once more.

At a time convenient to you, you will depart from the park and make your way back to Camp in time for a shower and a drink before dinner.

DAY 3: TRANSFER TO LAKE EYASI

En route:

Enjoy the spectacular landscape
Visit a local school to enjoy time with the enthusiastic pupils and teachers

Accommodation: Kisima Ngeda Tented Camp

Meals plan: B, L, D

Today you will check out of your camp and head towards the shores of Lake Eyasi, a seasonal soda lake. Lake Eyasi is a seasonal shallow salt lake on the floor of the Great Rift Valley at the base of the Serengeti Plateau, south of the Serengeti National Park and southwest of Ngorongoro Crater in the Crater Highlands of Tanzania.

From the camp, one can enjoy the spectacular landscape as well as experience the daily life of the last few remaining hunter/gatherers † the Hadza as well as their pastoralist nomadic counterparts, the Barbaig. Along the way, you will stop off for a visit to a local school. Enjoy some time with the ever-enthusiastic pupils and teachers before driving to Kisima Ngeda Tented Camp.

DAY 4: TRANSFER TO NGORONGORO CONSERVATION AREA

En route:

Marvel in a unique cultural experience † visit 2 remote tribes and learn about their daily lives

Accommodation: Plantation Lodge

Meals plan: B, L, D

Today you will check out of your lodge and depart with a packed lunch for a chance to visit the two interesting and remote groups of people who inhabit the area † the Hadzabe and Datoga tribes.

The Hadzabe are survivors of the Stone age and the last hunter-gatherers of Tanzania, while the Datoga were, three hundred years ago, the first Nilo-Hamatic speaking people to enter the Ngorongoro area. This unique cultural programme will give you a chance to learn all about how these tribes live in harmony with the land as well as go hunting and berry picking with them.

At a time convenient to you, make your way towards the Plantation Lodge which is conveniently located just a stone’s throw from the entrance to the Ngorongoro Conservation Area. On arrival at your lodge, you will be escorted to the reception for check in.. After a short safari briefing, you will be shown your room to refresh and relax as you wait for dinner.

DAY 5: SAFARI IN THE NGORONGORO CRATER

Accommodation: Plantation Lodge

Meals plan: B, L, D

Today you will be taken on a crater tour complete with picnic lunch. If you’re lucky you will spot many of the animals on your ‘must see’ list.

Ngorongoro Crater is a deep, volcanic crater, the largest unflooded and unbroken caldera in the world, measuring about 20 kms across, 600 meters deep and 300 sq kms in area. Ngorongoro Conservation Area was accorded the status of a World Heritage Site. The high walls of the crater itself, serve as a natural enclosure for an abundance of wildlife. There is a large resident population of varied ground game with the very real chance of you being able to see the ‘big five’. Among the notable birds are Lammergeyer, Vereaux’s Eagle and Egyptian Vulture, which make their home in the highest of the crater wall, the beautiful Rosy-breasted Long claw, which appears on the plains after rains, and flocks of lesser and Greater Flamingos which are spasmodic visitors to the crater lakes.

Back at Plantation Lodge, dinner will be cooking away and after a much-deserved hot shower, sit down for a meal in the beautiful dining area.

DAY 6: TRANSFER: FLY TO THE SERENGETI SERENGETI NATIONAL PARK

Safari in the Serengeti

Accommodation: Serian Camp

Meals plan: B, L, D

After breakfast and check out, you will meet your driver at the reception and from here it’s a short drive to the Manyara Airstrip. At this point you will say goodbye to your driver guide and board your scheduled service to the Serengeti.

On arrival you will be met by your Camp’s safari vehicle and driver guide. It’s a short game drive to Serian Camp. On arrival you will be escorted to reception, given a short safari briefing, before being shown your room.

After lunch head out on your first game drive in the Serengeti!

DAY 7: SAFARI IN THE SERENGETI NATIONAL PARK

Accommodation: Serian Camp

Meals plan: B, L, D

Spend today and tomorrow looking for game while enjoying the magic that this Reserve has to offer.

Early morning game drives are the best to catch the animals at their most active, or just relax in the camp. Later, on your afternoon game drive, there’s a good chance you will spot Africa’s famous Big Five abound, thanks to the park’s density of both predators and prey.

Day 8: Safari in the Serengeti Serengeti national park

Accommodation: Serian Camp

Meals plan: B, L, D

Similar to yesterday, spend today looking for games while enjoying the magic that this Reserve has to offer.

DAY 9: TRANSFER: FLY TO ARUSHA

Arusha:

Enjoy lunch at one of Tanzania’s oldest and most beautiful coffee estates
Visit the Shanga Shangaa workshops where they recycle aluminum, glass bottles, and paper into hundreds of amazing products
Depart from Kilimanjaro Airport

Meals plan: B, L

After breakfast and check out, you will be driven the short distance to the Airstrip where you will board your scheduled flight to Arusha. On arrival at Arusha Airstrip you will be met by a driver and vehicle and from here, travel the short distance to Arusha Coffee Lodge ‘Shanga experience’ for lunch. Then visit the Shanga Shangaa workshops, located near the lunch venue.

Depending on your International flight times, you will meet your driver at Reception, and from here you will be transferred to Kilimanjaro Airport.
